Since you have positioned all drums and cymbals well, it is time to secure the hardware stands to protect them from falling during drumming. Start by tightening the bass drum pedal against the drumhead while checking the drum’s stability. Securely fasten the rack tom and floor tom onto their stands while ensuring that they are firm and positioned correctly. Also, align the snare drum horizontally using a drum key to adjust the height until you are comfortable playing. Finally, adjust your drum throne to sit comfortably to reach all parts of your drum set.
Tuning the Drums
After setting up your drum set, the final step involves tuning the drums to produce great sound quality before attempting to play. Each drum type requires specific tuning, and you must do this by tightening or loosening the drumhead using a drum key. Begin with the bass drum, followed by the snare drum, rack tom, and finally the floor tom. As you tune each drum, test for balanced sound quality by playing the drumhead’s center and edges.
