5 Alternative Uses for a Butter Knife
Most of us only use butter knives for spreading butter or jam on our toast, but did you know that they can be used for so much more? Here are five alternative uses for a butter knife that you may not have thought of:
Removing Stickers
Have you ever purchased an item with a stubborn price sticker that just won’t come off? You can use a butter knife to carefully and gently scrape it away without damaging the surface underneath. Simply slide the flat edge of the knife under the sticker and peel upwards.
Peeling Fruits and Vegetables
If you don’t have a dedicated vegetable peeler on hand, a butter knife can work just as well. Use the blade to carefully remove the skin from fruits and vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, and apples. Just be sure to hold the knife securely, and use smooth, even strokes to avoid accidents.
Opening Packages
Getting a package open can be frustrating, especially when trying to cut through thick tape or plastic. A butter knife can make this task much easier – simply slide the dull edge of the knife under the tape or plastic and gently work your way through. Just take care not to cut yourself in the process.
Spackling Walls
If you have a small hole or crack in your wall that needs patching, a butter knife can come in handy as a makeshift spackling tool. Apply a thin layer of spackle to the blade and smooth it over the damaged area, using the knife to create a clean, even finish. This won’t work for larger holes, but it’s perfect for small touch-ups.
