Supplies You Will Need to Clean Your Saxophone
To clean your saxophone, you will need a cleaning cloth, mouthpiece brush, bore brush, non-silicone key oil, and a saxophone cleaning kit. The cleaning kit should have a saxophone cleaning swab and a neck cleaner.
How to Clean the Saxophone Body and Keys
To clean the body and keys of your saxophone, take a soft cleaning cloth and gently rub the surface to remove any grime or dirt. Make sure to reach all the nooks and crannies, including underneath the keys. For stubborn dirt or grime, use a bore brush in a circular motion. To prevent rusting, a non-silicone key oil can be applied to the keys.
How to Clean the Mouthpiece
To clean the mouthpiece of your saxophone, rinse it with warm water and use a mouthpiece brush to remove any dirt or debris. If the mouthpiece has any mineral deposits or stains, a solution of white vinegar and warm water can be used. Make sure to rinse it thoroughly after.
How to Clean the Saxophone Neck
To clean the saxophone neck, use a neck cleaner that is specifically made for saxophones. Insert the neck cleaner into the neck and gently swab the interior. After cleaning, make sure to thoroughly dry the inside of the neck to prevent any residue from affecting sound quality.
