Gather your materials
Before filling a salt shaker, you will need to gather a few materials:
- A salt shaker
- Salt
- A funnel (optional)
Choose your salt
There are many different types of salt available, so it’s important to choose one that suits your preferences. Common options include table salt, sea salt, and kosher salt. Consider the size of the salt grains and the level of saltiness when making your selection.
Prepare the salt shaker
If your salt shaker has a removable lid, remove it before filling. Some salt shakers may have a small rubber stopper on the bottom that can be removed to pour salt in. Use a knife or a small tool to gently pry out the stopper.
Fill the salt shaker
There are two main methods to fill a salt shaker:
- Method 1: Pour salt directly into the shaker
- Method 2: Use a funnel to pour salt into the shaker
If your salt container has a wide opening, you can pour salt directly into the shaker. Be careful not to spill salt on the outside of the container as it can become sticky and make it difficult to hold.
If your salt container has a narrow opening, using a funnel can make it easier to pour the salt without spilling. Place the funnel in the opening of the shaker and slowly pour the salt into the funnel. Gently tap the shaker to help the salt settle.
Replace the lid and clean up
After filling the salt shaker, replace the lid or stopper. Make sure it is securely in place to prevent any salt from spilling out. Clean up any spilled salt using a small brush or cloth. Wipe down the outside of the salt shaker to remove any traces of salt.
