Introduction to Removing Candle Wax from Candlestick Holders
Candlestick holders add a touch of elegance to any room, but the wax they leave behind when candles burn down can be a hassle to clean. Luckily, there are several effective ways to remove candle wax from candlestick holders.
Refrigerate and Scrape Method
One method to remove candle wax is to place the candlestick holder in the refrigerator for a few hours to allow the wax to harden. Once the wax is sufficiently hardened, use a plastic scraper or credit card to gently scrape the wax away from the surface of the holder. Make sure to use a plastic scraper to avoid any scratching of the surface of the holder.
Boiling Water Method
Another method to remove candle wax is to pour boiling water into the candlestick holder, filling it about one-third to one-half full. Allow the holder to sit for approximately 10 minutes. The heat from the hot water will dissolve and loosen the wax, allowing it to float to the surface. Carefully pour out the water and dispose of the wax residue.
The Freezer Method
For stubborn wax residue, place the candlestick holder in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer. Depending on the size of the holder, leave it in the freezer for a few hours or overnight. The cold temperature will make the wax brittle, allowing you to easily chip it away with a plastic scraper or credit card. Thoroughly wipe the holder clean before use.
Chemical Method
If the wax residue is still stubborn, try using a chemical solution. Place the holder in a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar for approximately 10 minutes. Take the holder out and gently scrub with a soft-bristled brush. Rinse thoroughly and dry the holder with a clean towel. Vinegar’s mild acidity will help dissolve any wax still clinging to the holder’s surface.
