Gather the necessary materials
To fold a napkin into a bowtie, you will need a cloth napkin and a flat surface to work on. Make sure the napkin is clean and free of wrinkles or stains. You may also want to iron the napkin beforehand to ensure a crisp and polished look.
Begin by folding the napkin in half
Start by laying the napkin flat on the table or other flat surface, with the right side facing down. Fold the napkin in half diagonally, bringing the bottom left corner up to meet the top right corner. Ensure that the edges align perfectly for a neat and symmetrical fold.
Fold the right and left corners
With the triangle shape created in step 2, fold the right and left corners of the triangle towards the center. The points of the corners should meet at the center line. This will create a smaller triangle shape with a straight edge at the bottom.
Fold the bottom edge upwards
Take the bottom edge of the triangle and fold it upwards, away from you, to create the base of the bowtie shape. The folded edge should meet the top point of the triangle, creating a rectangular shape with pointed ends.
Fold the pointed ends to complete the bowtie
Finally, take each of the pointed ends and fold them towards the center of the rectangle. The ends should overlap slightly in the middle to form the knot of the bowtie. Adjust the folds and tuck any loose ends as necessary to achieve the desired bowtie shape and appearance.
