Breaking in New Flip Flops: Tips and Tricks
Flip flops are a summer staple, but breaking in a new pair can be painful. We’ve all experienced blisters and sore toes from new flip flops. However, there are ways to make the process easier.
Wear Them Around the House First
It’s important to give your feet time to adjust to the new material and shape of the flip flops. Wear them around the house for a few hours each day before going out in them. This will also give you an opportunity to see if there are any areas that rub or cause discomfort.
Use Moleskin or Band-Aids
If there are specific areas that are rubbing or causing blisters, place a piece of moleskin or a Band-Aid on that area before putting on your flip flops. This will reduce friction and protect your skin.
Try Thick Socks
If the flip flops are tight or rubbing in certain areas, try wearing them with thick socks to stretch them out. This method may feel silly, but it can help break in the flip flops quickly.
Moisturize Your Feet
Dry skin can be more susceptible to blisters and discomfort. Keep your feet moisturized with lotion to prevent this. Additionally, try a foot soak with epsom salt to soothe any soreness.
Be Patient
Breaking in new flip flops takes time and patience. Don’t try to wear them for an extended period right away. Gradually increase the amount of time you wear them until they are comfortable for all-day wear.
