Choose ripe kiwi fruit
Kiwi fruit is much easier to scoop out when it is fully ripe. The flesh will be softer, making it simpler to remove from the skin. You can determine if a kiwi is ripe by gently pressing on the fruit. If it gives slightly under your touch, it is ready to be scooped. Avoid using overly ripe kiwi fruit as it may be too mushy and difficult to work with.
Slice off the ends
To make scooping out the kiwi easier, start by slicing off a small piece from both ends of the fruit. This will create a stable base, allowing the kiwi to sit flat on your cutting board. It will also make it easier to grip the fruit when removing the skin.
Use a spoon or melon baller
After slicing off the ends, take a spoon or melon baller and press it gently against the skin of the kiwi. Slowly run the edge of the spoon or melon baller around the circumference of the fruit, separating the flesh from the skin. Apply light pressure to avoid squishing the fruit.
Scoop out the flesh
Once you have loosened the flesh from the skin, use the spoon or melon baller to scoop out the kiwi fruit. Insert the edge of the spoon or melon baller into the opening you created and slide it along the inside of the fruit, separating the flesh from the skin. Repeat this process until you have removed all the flesh from the kiwi.
Enjoy your perfectly scooped kiwi fruit
Once you have successfully scooped out the kiwi fruit, you can enjoy it as is, add it to a fruit salad, or use it as a topping for yogurt or desserts. The scooped kiwi fruit can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a few days, but it is best to consume it as soon as possible for the freshest taste.
