Organize Your Tools with DIY Plier Holders
Organizing tools can get overwhelming pretty quickly. Pliers, in particular, can be difficult to store in a way that keeps them easy to find and accessible. Commercial plier holders are available, but they can be expensive and may not work with your existing storage system. In this article, we’ll give you step-by-step instructions for making your own DIY plier holders that you can customize to fit your needs.
Gather Your Materials
Before getting started, you’ll need to gather some materials. Luckily, you probably already have most of what you need at home. You’ll need:
- Scrap wood
- A saw
- A drill
- A drill bit that’s the same diameter as your pliers
- A countersink bit
- Screws
- Sandpaper
Cut Your Wood
Using your saw, cut the scrap wood into the size and shape that you want for your plier holders. You can make them as long or as short as you need, depending on the number of pliers you want to store and the size of your storage area. Sand the edges of the wood to make it smooth.
Drill the Holes
Next, use your drill to make holes in the wood that are the same diameter as your pliers. Drill the holes close together in a row, leaving enough space between them for the handles of the pliers. Then, use the countersink bit to drill a hole for each screw that you’ll be using to attach the plier holder to your storage area.
Attach the Plier Holder
Finally, attach the plier holder to your storage area using screws. Make sure that the holder is level and secure. Then, insert your pliers into the holes that you drilled. You may need to adjust the size of the holes slightly to get the pliers to fit snugly.
Repeat this process for as many pliers as you need to store. You can make multiple holders and attach them side-by-side if you have a large collection of pliers to organize. With your new DIY plier holders, you’ll be able to easily find the pliers that you need for your next project.
