Use Parchment Paper
One simple way to prevent your cake from sticking to the tin is to use parchment paper. Cut a piece of parchment paper to fit the bottom of your tin, then place it inside. The parchment paper creates a barrier between the cake batter and the tin, preventing it from sticking. Additionally, parchment paper makes it easier to remove the cake from the tin once it’s finished baking.
Grease and Flour the Tin
If you don’t have parchment paper on hand, you can still prevent your cake from sticking by greasing and flouring the tin. Take a small amount of butter or cooking spray and coat the inside of the tin. Then, sift flour over the butter or cooking spray, making sure to cover the entire surface. The flour creates a non-stick surface, while the butter or cooking spray creates a slippery surface that helps the cake slide out of the tin more easily.
Let the Cake Cool Before Removing from the Tin
One common mistake that can cause cakes to stick to the tin is removing them from the tin while they’re still hot. This can cause the cake to break or stick to the sides of the tin. Instead, allow the cake to cool in the tin for at least 10-15 minutes. This gives the cake time to set and become more firm, making it easier to remove from the tin without sticking.
Use a Non-Stick Tin or Silicone Baking Pan
If you frequently have issues with cakes sticking to the tin, it may be time to invest in a non-stick tin or silicone baking pan. Non-stick tins are specially coated to prevent food from sticking, while silicone baking pans are naturally non-stick. These types of tins and baking pans make it easy to remove the cake from the tin without it sticking, even without using parchment paper or greasing and flouring the tin.
Clean the Tin Properly
Finally, make sure to clean your cake tin properly after each use. Leftover grease or flour can build up on the inside of the tin over time, making it more likely that your cake will stick. Use hot, soapy water to clean the tin thoroughly, making sure to remove any leftover food or grease. Allow the tin to dry completely before using it again.
